    What's that old joke; How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time! (ugh) So, here I go. I'll give the builder this- that island was built to last. Taking it apart was hard work! First, because the island has electrical outlets, TURN OFF THE POWER TO THE ISLAND AT THE CIRCUIT BOX AND DOUBLE CHECK THAT IT IS OFF USING A VOLTMETER. Now then, remove the countertops. Because there is trim, it needs to be removed first. Score the caulking on the undersides and use a putty

    I have NEVER liked the island in my kitchen- never, ever, ever. Sure, it offered storage and countertop space and it had electrical outlets but.... BUT! This island was, for lack of a more apt word, odd. It had an odd shape, it created odd traffic patterns due to it's placement and size/height and it ate up space and made the kitchen seem smaller than it actually was.     Well, goodness! It's been a year since I last wrote anything here... Lots of things have happened to keep me from refinishing more furniture and posting them here- there were changes at my full-time work and an accident falling down the stairs at home.
